Project Description:

This project is an interdisciplinary collaboration between the NSE department and Dr. Goran Jovanovic's Microfluidics research group. The purpose of this project is to modify a microfluidic device capable of performing liquid-liquid extractions to extract soluble uranium from an aqueous feedstock much like the PUREX process. This research could be useful in developing an energy-efficient way to reprocess spent nuclear fuel.
