Project Description:

The City of Monroe has created a plan and identified areas of concern within its infrastructure that should be addressed. The main focus is on the town’s current wastewater treatment system. The wastewater treatment plant needs to make a series of improvements, with a focus on making upgrades to the plants headworks and treatment ponds to meet its NPDES permits. Upgrades will be necessary to bring the treatment system to EPA standards as well as meet the community’s goals and vision for the future. The current wastewater treatment system consists of a series of facultative oxidation ponds followed by a chlorine disinfection system. Loading rates onto the primary pond are much larger than EPA recommended values. This is likely why plant operations are not meeting effluent standards. Our firm, Kaizen Consulting Group, has been hired to make recommendations on possible improvements to the system.
