Project Description:

Our team has been tasked with evaluating and redesigning the existing WWTP for the city of Monroe. The current WWTP plant consists of three facultative ponds and a chlorine treatment basin. The team is evaluating how to redesign the plant to meet current discharge goals for biological oxygen demand (BOD) and total suspended solids (TSS), while also meeting new proposed goals for nitrogenous oxygen demand (NOD) and taking into account new brewery industries being established in Monroe. Along with treatment goals, the team is considering the cities budget for infrastructure changes and possible funding from legislative sources that could feasibly be obtained for the proposal. The final proposal consists of design, economic, and legal considerations.
