Project Description:
The primary goal is to design a revised wastewater treatment plan that (1) meets Monroe’s BOD5 discharge requirements as specified in their NPDES permit, (2) achieves complete nitrification of ammonia, and (3) achieves denitrification of the resulting nitrate as needed to meet requirements for Class A reuse water. Goal (3) is relevant because the water may be used downstream for irrigation, which requires sufficiently low nitrate levels. The treatment system will also be designed to accommodate future BOD5 loadings that take into account population growth and brewery expansion.
