Project Description:

Letting researchers and developers take virtual reality to a new level of immersion, the BioMR system is a biometric virtual interaction tool which allows VR experiences to respond automatically to users' unconscious body signals.

In virtual reality, users are immersed in a digital simulation. Unlike most VR experiences, which respond only to conscious user control, BioMR allows developers to change this digital simulation in response to a user's reactions to it. By tracking and responding to biometric signals such as heart rate and ECG, developers can use BioMR to trigger specified changes programmed into the VR scene. These changes to the digital simmulation in turn affect the user’s physiological reactions, which are similarly measured and responded to. Using this controlled feedback loop, BioMR allows for the research and creation of VR which adapts individual user experience in real-time.
