The Conscientious Consumer is a mobile application that makes ethical shopping more accessible to the general public. The biggest barrier to purchasing in alignment with our values is the amount of time it takes to do the research we need to do to truly shop ethically. The problem is so complicated that most people give in to the feelings of hopelessness and stop trying. The Conscientious Consumer is a mobile application using Dart, Flutter, and Postgres that condenses complex data about the ethical practices of major manufacturers into a simple and transparent 5 star rating. It is crowd sourced with a standard form to reduce the opportunity for user error. And the user experience design is simple and clean.
