Project Description:
The extraction of high-value oils from plant matter is a growing segment of the economy. A specific area of growth in Oregon is hemp, with multiple extracts being explored. Solvent extraction technology being explored by Vanguard Scientific in Aurora, Oregon. This project focuses on supercritical carbon dioxide as the solvent because it is FDA approved solvent that can easily be recycled. The project also aims to preserve the terpenes for re-addition, making a more marketable product. This design processes up to 10,000 lb of hemp feedstock per day.
