Project Description:

The Oregon State University (OSU) Hatfield Marine Science Center Student Housing (HMSC) project, managed by the OH7 group, involves the design and construction of a contemporary student housing facility within the Newport, Oregon community. The primary aim is to engineer a student housing complex that seamlessly integrates into the existing infrastructure while meeting stringent functional requirements. Leveraging expertise across structural engineering, water resources management, mechanical systems design, and building envelope architecture, the team is poised to navigate the intricate technicalities of this project.
Central to the objectives is the creation of a conducive environment for academic pursuits and community living. This is to be achieved by implementing efficient space utilization strategies, incorporating sustainable design principles, and optimizing building systems for performance and longevity. Incorporating sustainable practices is a cornerstone of the design philosophy. Resource efficiency, waste reduction, and energy conservation are prioritized throughout the project lifecycle to minimize environmental impact and enhance long-term sustainability. Moreover, the design approach emphasizes resilience against natural hazards and climatic variations. Integration of robust structural elements and resilient building materials ensures the durability and adaptability of the housing facility to withstand environmental challenges.
