College of Engineering Unit:
Team 2 is a group of six engineers that were tasked with the redesign of the Agricultural Complex on Chemeketa Community College's campus. The team is comprised of two structural, two lighting, one water resource, and one building envelope. As a team we strive to create an open space that encompasses the feeling of standing in an open field, while keeping in mind the attention and focus needed in an educational setting. The team also will maintain a sustainability goal throughout the process to cater to the owner's desire for LEED certification. The structural team focused on the lateral resisting frames and gravity-load resisting systems. The building envelope focused on thermal comfort with a heavy consideration for cost and sustainability. Our water resource engineer focused primarily on interior and exterior mains, while the lighting team focused on maximizing daylight within the space, and creating an electrical lighting system that supplements the daylight in an efficient way.
