Project Description:

This project involves the design and construction of an Ion Engine for use in the atmosphere. The engine will utilize ionic wind and grids at the end to propel ions, making it a promising alternative to traditional combustion-based propulsion systems. The team's goal is to create a lightweight engine that can be tested on a hobby rocket from the college rocket club. To achieve this, the engine has its own power supply using batteries and is constructed using common materials, as per the original spirit of the project. The successful completion of this project will advance the field of ion propulsion and demonstrate the feasibility of ion engines for atmospheric use.
