Project Description:
The project our group is working on is the chainsaw chain sharpening machine. The sponsor is Gary Borntrager of Borntrager Tree Jacks. The machine is designed to sharpen an angled gullet on a chainsaw chain in a quick and efficient manner. The major milestones achieved by our group include redesigning critical parts and replacing 3D printed parts on the prototype with aluminum parts which is the actual material meant for use in full production. The results of these changes have brought the prototype to a functional state without fear of breaking and very close to the testing phase.
