Project Description:

Herein, the design for a biodegradable hydrogel transdermal patch was developed using high acyl gellan gum as an alternative way to take a mood-stabilizing drug. Due to its transdermal method of delivery, the drug enters the body at a steady rate compared to oral methods, which is important for mood stabilizing medication. Ultimately, the patch is designed to be more effective and easier to use than other options as well as more environmentally friendly than other transdermal patches. This transdermal patch will also be more comfortable on the skin for consumers, with added aloe vera for moisturizing purposes, while using natural adhesion properties to stick to the skin.
