Project Description:

This project aims to find an ideal use of the biomass waste created at a hemp facility. The team plans to construct a recycling facility by designing an industrial conveyor belt dryer that removes ethanol from the biomass and turns the biomass into hemp hurd, which can be used in various industries, including hempcrete, pulp and paper, farming, and activated carbon. Our team will focus specifically on hempcrete and the pulp and paper industries for our analysis. This analysis will allow Vanguard Scientific Systems to sell the hemp hurd and turn a profit on their biomass while reducing the waste produced by the facility making the facility more sustainable.
