Project Description:
Introduction

As sports betting becomes legal throughout the United States, companies like FanDuel and DraftKings stand to generate a lot of revenue. Betchya is changing the normal betting paradigm by providing users with a social, simple, intuitive, and fun way to bet on sports and different events by allowing users to set lines and create terms for each bet. Betchya offers support for a wide variety of sports such as football, baseball, and soccer with plans to offer many more in the future.

Technology

Currently, we have a mobile application that allows users the ability to register new accounts, sign in, create and delete bets, view current and past bets, and send automatic push notifications. We are using Flutter and Dart to create a user friendly mobile interface. On the backend, we are using Google Cloud platform to host NoSQL and SQL databases, login functionality, and as hosting for the backend server.

Ethical Considerations

Since the premise of the app is centered around gambling, Betchya made the decision to require its users to be over the age of 18. Additionally, Betchya chose to utilize an in-app currency instead of real money. This lowers the stakes of the bets and allows the experience of the app to be fully centered around its social aspect and user enjoyment.

Project Partners

Team Betchya would like to thank our project partners Alex Edwards, Parker Edwards, and Bobby Schueller for the opportunity to work on this project.
